With everything going on in today's economy, society, and job security many people are having a hard time separating their personal and professional life, especially individuals in leadership positions. As a result, they take job challenges home which leads to frustration, arguments, and stress that cause marriages and relationships to separate, breakup, or divorce—even suicide. A lot is caused by words being exchanged, with your spouse or family member that can't be taken back, which you wanted to say to your boss or co-workers. Unfortunately, too many individuals takes out their anger on their spouse and family instead of dealing with issues before they go home. They do not talk to anyone about the challenges or problems they are facing at work and takes out their anger on the closest person to them, which are family members. Therefore, divorce and separation rates are extremely high for executives and individuals in leadership positions.
At the same time, when executives and individuals in leadership positions experience challenges or problems in their personal life, it does affect their effectiveness and performance professionally. These individuals are hard to communicate with, take comments personal, short tempered, highly demanding, always seem upset or frustrated, demeaning, and insecure, yet authoritive. Therefore, the leader’s attitude affects the total culture of the department or organization and causes a hostile environment. Thus, employees seem intimidated and miserable, which affect performance and productivity due to insecurity and fear.
Many of these challenges are caused by individuals and leaders feeling alone or not having confidence in anyone to share their concerns and challenges in order not to look weak or be misunderstood.
Consequently, the questions are:
“Have you ever experienced working with individuals or leaders who always seem upset or frustrated?”
“How can individuals or leaders not allow their professional life to affect their personal life or allow their personal life to affect their professional life?”
Please give us your feedback…. Let’s talk real….
